OMT Ladies 2nd XI Season Review

This season saw some structural changes within the women’s section, with the 3rd XI folding following a number of player retirements, Northwood forces personnel departures and pregnancies. As a result, the 3s players were integrated into the 2s, who welcomed them with the trademark OMT team spirit and camaraderie.

Competing in North West London Division 4 proved to be a challenge, with the league effectively split between promotion contenders and those battling to stay up. The 2s found themselves in the latter camp, but continued to compete with determination throughout.

The season began with a narrow loss to Eastcote, who went on to finish third, followed by tough encounters against powerhouse clubs West Hampstead and Hampstead & Westminster—eventual league winners. October and November brought a run of improved performances, with well-earned wins and narrow losses, including a draw with relegation rivals Southgate. The Christmas break ended with another victory to send the team into 2025 in high spirits.

Despite a spirited fight in the second half of the season, the team couldn’t quite convert pressure into goals, with particularly frustrating draws against Ealing and Chiswick. In the end, relegation was confirmed on the final day—but not without a fight. While the final standings didn’t fall in our favour, the strength of team spirit and the commitment shown throughout the season give us great confidence for a strong comeback. We look forward to the new season with optimism—and hope to welcome more players to join us on the pitch.
