Umpiring at OMTHC

Secretary OMTHC Membership3 Nov 2025 - 15:21

Adult and Young Umpires

Umpiring is as important an aspect of our game as playing. It’s a rewarding challenge in it’s own right, and provides an opportunity to develop valuable skills and increase your knowledge of the sport.
We depend on the help of our qualified and unassessed umpires as well as players who are willing to umpire fixtures occasionally, alongside playing a game of their own.
League regulations now require us to have a number of Level2, Level 1 and unassessed umpires. Anyone can learn to umpire. We are keen to have more players involved in umpiring club matches and pursuing their qualifications but also would love to hear from parents and young players who would like to start on their umpiring journey. Opportunities exist to umpire across the junior and adult divisions at junior in2hockey matches and adult matches

England Hockey has guidance and information at England Hockey - Umpire

England Hockey also run a specific Young Umpire Group for those who are devoted and aspire to becoming high level umpires.
